Western Europe is filled with some of the world’s great landmarks such as La Sagrada Familia in Spain, the Eiffel Tower in France and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. It also has some of the greatest metropolises on earth, from quirky London to fiesta-rich Barcelona, as well as many more hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.
Moving east and away from the tourist trail, countries that had been closed for many years are now open for tourism and cultural exchange. Fascinating countries such as Romania and Bulgaria remain largely traditional despite up-and-coming cities, whereas former Soviet states like Moldova and Latvia are similarly fascinating to visit.
